Communicate in Pictures What Words Cannot

With photographer Eva Abeling

Eva’s course takes place near bohemian Deià, at the foot of the Tramuntana mountains. Surrounding the coastal village, you will find a canvas of crystal blue waters, pebble beaches, and pine covered cliffs for you to play and experiment with. In a special setting of peace and calm, put theory into practice – developing your photography skills while filling your film roll with Mediterranean inspired dream images.

The first part of the course will concentrate on finding inspiration in your surroundings, focusing on topics of nature, poetry, and emotions to understand what it means to create dream-like imagery.

In the second part of the course, you will learn different techniques for using 35mm analog photography – translating thoughts, emotions and stories into compositions, colours, and shapes. Revealing dreams in silence.

Eva designs each exercise to help stop overthinking and worry over the finished product, allowing students to better focus on the present moment and create from a place of authenticity.

Even if you don’t own an analog camera, we will have disposable cameras available for purchase at the beginning of class. After developing your photos, there will be a digital folder where everyone can share their images. Eva will also leave her contact information to answer questions and provide tips based on your results.

Analog photographer Eva Abeling knows how to transport you into a dreamy reality with her photographs—capturing the beauty of stillness, authenticity, peace, and sensitivity. Her unique concepts have led to collaborations with exclusive brands in the United States, Australia, and all around Europe. After several exhibitions and publications in London, Barcelona, and New York, Eva has given online courses on photography technique and theory to hundreds of students from over 30 different countries.
