Stitching Memories Into Tangible Art

With Analía Luhaces

Your embroidery teacher, Analía Luhaces, waits for you at Parc de la Mar – a beautiful shaded park with dramatic views of Palma’s historic La Seu Cathedral. In her 3 hour workshop, Analía will walk you through every essential tool, trick, and technique needed to get started in the world of embroidery, a craft you can use to personalise clothing, tablecloths, bedding, and so much more.

Analía starts the class by introducing you to the materials, tools and her wide variety of coloured thread. Following her lead, she will show you and help you practice the basic stitches needed for your main project. Once placing your 45 cm x 45 cm cream coloured handkerchief in your embroidery hoop, it’s time to let your imagination take the lead. Thinking of the design you want, your teacher will demonstrate how to lightly sketch on the textile as a guideline for your embroidery.

Maybe your design is something that reminds you of the island, a meaningful written message, or a symbol that connects you to a special person or place… whatever you decide, Analia will help you make it a reality. As you begin threading your favourite colours into your handkerchief, you’ll quickly find this technique has the potential to tell a creative story in every textile you touch.

Once you’re happy with your embroidered piece, your teacher will set you up with all the materials you need to continue away from her workshop, gifting you an embroidery hoop, needl threads to take home.

Analia hopes that by teaching in a lighthearted and beautiful environment, taking care with every threaded mark she demonstrates, her passion will inspire you to continue exploring her beloved craft far beyond your time with dada-days.
