Not Your Grandma’s Crochet Workshop

With Lucy Ehrlich

Decorate yourself with wearable art that’s unique to your personal style. In this workshop, you’ll take a step back from mass produced clothing and accessories and enter into Lucy Ehrlich’s world of crochet, reimagining your idea of the craft through her modern approach.

A jack of all trades, Lucy uses her multimedia background to show you the unique potential of crochet. The first step of the workshop is to select your favourite yarns to use in your scrunchie. Choose from a colourful collection of fluffy mohair, soft cotton, and summery linen yarns. Whether you prefer soft neutral tones or a multicoloured piece that plays with texture, your teacher will help you create a scrunchie that reflects your sense of style.

Once you choose a hair elastic that agrees with your hair type, Lucy will show you how to crochet around it in order to create the base of your design. You’ll be surprised how quickly you pick up this simple and satisfying technique. Crocheting stitch by stitch, you’ll build your scrunchy, applying your personal touch with every layer you add on.

At the end of the class, you’ll walk away with a hair piece you can wear immediately, as well as the hands-on experience needed to continue your new favourite hobby on your own.
