Make Your Own 925 Sterling Silver Jewel
with Evangelia Ducoin
Some places slow time down without asking. Pórtol is one of them. In a small studio space at the heart of this quietly beautiful village, Evangelia Ducoin – born in Argentina, fluent in metal – will guide you through the ancient art of lost wax casting.
You’ll begin with a starting point: an image, a memory, a word. Something small and yours. Working with soft and hard wax, you’ll learn how the material responds to your hands, your ideas, your patience. There are no wrong turns here.
Midway through your three hours, you’ll also step into Evangelia’s real working studio – a generous space she shares with her husband, a carpenter, and her close friend, a ceramicist. Three makers, three crafts, one room full of creative life. It tends to stay with people.
Back at the workshop, over local pastries, fruit, and an aperitivo, you’ll pause, talk, and discover that the person next to you was chasing the same quiet feeling as you.
Once your wax model is complete, Evangelia herself casts it at the foundry. A few weeks later, a finished piece in 925 sterling silver finds its way back to you. If you’d like to add a little extra, you can choose to have a stone set or a gold layer applied for €30 each – a small touch that makes the piece entirely your own.
